A Ridiculously Long Weekend

On Sunday afternoon, Blair and I set out to Kirksville, MO for his live audition and interview at Truman State. When we left home it was a balmy 65 degrees outside. Seven-and-a-half hours later, we were welcomed by 21 degree temps and this

SNOW!!!! So much snow! We spent the night at a very nice bed and breakfast.

Monday was Blair's audition, and I wandered around campus for a little over an hour taking in all the snow. Very nice campus, just not quite what we have in mind. It would be like moving from hot and humid Podunk to cold and icy Podunk.

A little snow and ice

The snow didn't stick, but it was so pretty to watch it fall this morning. This is what we're left with:

Sheesh...

Apparently I have a knack for making kindergarteners cry. Going on four of them now...

The Boomwhackers went well today. We'll see how they do tomorrow. This week is kinda crazy because school pictures are Wednesday and Valentines parties take place Thursday and there's no school Friday. Could be a wild few days...or not...

More Teaching

I'm needed all week this week, except for Friday because there is no school. I have decided to be brave and do Boomwhackers. I found that the children weren't up-to-date with the teacher's lessons plans, so I'm going to use the Boomwhackers to teach rhythm and pitch. The get bored just sitting and saying ta ta ti ti ta, and in my opinion children don't learn as well when they're bored. So we can still learn ta ta ti ti ta but do it in a way that facilitates better learning and retention of that knowledge.

Sub Days

Sorry I didn't get to do a Self-Portrait Tuesday yesterday. I had the computer unplugged because of the storms.

I did, however, get pictures of my classroom yesterday.

And now for creations of my own:
I finally got this bag finished. I sewed in the wool lining and the strap last night. The bag itself is knitted out of 20% wool 80% acrylic.

I got this coat done a while ago, but just got around to taking pictures of it. I would like to put some dark brown wooden toggle buttons on it, but I don't have any right now. The only thing I don't like about this pattern is the lack of pockets. It was really easy to stitch up.

More Subbing

Tomorrow is my last day for a while with my munchkins. I really have had alot of fun with them. I'm still undecided about what Master's to get. I'm kinda thinking now about just sticking with education. But then, by the time I get done with that degree, Blair and I will be ready to start a family, and we've already decided that I'll stay at home while we have little ones. So by the time we're through having children and they're all in school, will I really still want to go back and teach? So, I'm thinking about just doing a Kindermusik certification and doing that and piano lessons. Then I can have the best of both worlds and still do sub work when our kids are in school. I don't know. Still thinking...
