A new car!

To go along with all the other new things taking place in my life right now. Here's a link: Suzuki Forenza. Mine is actually silver, and while all may not be as tickled pink with the new car as I am, it's still a very nice car.

For some reason I look really sparkle-y in the above photo...

Fun with Friends

Or, friend, singular. Sam Stephens came over for supper Tuesday. We grilled out, pigged out, and vegged out.

A changing of the hair color

Blair decided the other day he wanted to color his hair. Ok. I was going to color it last night but he chickened out. We colored it this afternoon instead.

This is the before, and mind you, this is an old picture. I have no clue what he is doing. We try not to hold that against him.

This is his new color. I really like it.

A Waffle Kinda Day

Nothing makes a lazy Saturday better than waffles (especially when your husband wants to make them).

Now, on to life things. The school I've been subbing at found a certified teacher to finish out the school year. The thing is, she's certified in chemistry, physics, earth science, and administration. She knows NOTHING about music. She shadowed me yesterday, made two of my kids cry during MY class another left reading group in tears, and at the end of the day she asked if I had any videos. That's it. I'm through ranting....I'll spare you the rest.

Not So Much Spring...

After a crazy day involving a bank robbery and lock-down at school, we let out early for this.

A Ridiculously Long Weekend

On Sunday afternoon, Blair and I set out to Kirksville, MO for his live audition and interview at Truman State. When we left home it was a balmy 65 degrees outside. Seven-and-a-half hours later, we were welcomed by 21 degree temps and this

SNOW!!!! So much snow! We spent the night at a very nice bed and breakfast.

Monday was Blair's audition, and I wandered around campus for a little over an hour taking in all the snow. Very nice campus, just not quite what we have in mind. It would be like moving from hot and humid Podunk to cold and icy Podunk.

A little snow and ice

The snow didn't stick, but it was so pretty to watch it fall this morning. This is what we're left with:

Sheesh...

Apparently I have a knack for making kindergarteners cry. Going on four of them now...

The Boomwhackers went well today. We'll see how they do tomorrow. This week is kinda crazy because school pictures are Wednesday and Valentines parties take place Thursday and there's no school Friday. Could be a wild few days...or not...

More Teaching

I'm needed all week this week, except for Friday because there is no school. I have decided to be brave and do Boomwhackers. I found that the children weren't up-to-date with the teacher's lessons plans, so I'm going to use the Boomwhackers to teach rhythm and pitch. The get bored just sitting and saying ta ta ti ti ta, and in my opinion children don't learn as well when they're bored. So we can still learn ta ta ti ti ta but do it in a way that facilitates better learning and retention of that knowledge.

Sub Days

Sorry I didn't get to do a Self-Portrait Tuesday yesterday. I had the computer unplugged because of the storms.

I did, however, get pictures of my classroom yesterday.

And now for creations of my own:
I finally got this bag finished. I sewed in the wool lining and the strap last night. The bag itself is knitted out of 20% wool 80% acrylic.

I got this coat done a while ago, but just got around to taking pictures of it. I would like to put some dark brown wooden toggle buttons on it, but I don't have any right now. The only thing I don't like about this pattern is the lack of pockets. It was really easy to stitch up.
